Overview
- On July 10, Punjab’s cabinet approved the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, doubling the health cover limit from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh per family
- Health cards will be issued at Seva Kendras, Common Service Centres and through online registration with Aadhaar or Voter ID
- Over 550 private hospitals have been empanelled so far, with plans to expand the network to 1,000 facilities
- The scheme extends free healthcare without income criteria to all 3 crore residents, including government employees and pensioners
- Punjab has earmarked Rs 778 crore in its 2025–26 budget to fund the universal plan, making it the first state to guarantee such coverage
