Overview

• Kerala will procure Sahiwal breed bulls from Punjab, while Punjab will receive Holstein Friesian and Murrah bull semen from Kerala.
• Punjab placed an initial order for 30,000 HF semen doses and 60,520 Murrah buffalo semen doses from the Kerala Livestock Development Board.
• The agreement followed a meeting in Chandigarh between Punjab minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian and Kerala minister J Chinchu Rani.
• Both states committed to joint work on Embryo Transfer, In‑Vitro Fertilisation, genomic selection and breeding value estimation to accelerate genetic gains.
• Exchange programmes between the Punjab and Kerala Livestock Development Boards will train veterinarians and scientists to improve dairy productivity and farmer incomes.
