Punjab AGTF Arrests Two After Highway Gunfight, Foils Alleged Goldy Dhillon Plot

Investigators frame the arrests as part of a wider crackdown on foreign-directed gang networks.

Overview

  • Joint AGTF and SAS Nagar police teams intercepted suspects at Ghaggar Bridge on the AmbalaDera Bassi highway after credible intelligence, triggering an exchange of fire.
  • Police identified the injured detainees as Sharanjit Singh and Aman Kumar, recovered two .32-bore pistols with 10 cartridges, and took them into custody under guard.
  • A case was registered on November 12 at Dera Bassi under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 25 of the Arms Act, with further interrogation to follow once doctors clear them.
  • Police say the pair is linked to a recent Rajpura shootout and was allegedly tasked by foreign-based gangster Goldy Dhillon to target a Punjab businessman.
  • In a separate AGTF–Batala Police action, officers arrested alleged Jaggu Bhagwanpuria aide Gurlove Singh and seized two pistols, as officials also reiterated claims tying Dhillon to an October killing in Abbotsford, Canada.
