Punjab AAP MLA Gurpreet Gogi Dies in Apparent Accidental Shooting

Gurpreet Gogi, a first-time MLA from Ludhiana West with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), died late Friday night from a gunshot wound to the head, reportedly caused by an accidental discharge of his licensed pistol.
The incident occurred around midnight at his residence, where family members heard a gunshot and found him injured; he was declared dead upon arrival at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
Punjab Police have stated that the exact cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination, though initial reports suggest the shooting was accidental.
Gogi, who joined AAP in 2022 after two decades with the Congress, was known for his grassroots efforts, including work on the Buddha Nullah cleanup project, which he attended earlier on the day of his death.
