Pune Welcomes Palkhi Processions, Launches Free Pilgrim Health Camp

Devotees will rest in Pune for two days before resuming their 250-kilometre pilgrimage to Pandharpur on Ashadhi Ekadashi.

Overview

  • The palanquins of Sant Tukaram Maharaj and Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj reached Pune on June 20, greeted by municipal officials and lakhs of Warkaris.
  • Pilgrims will pause at Pasodya Vithoba and Nidungya temples before departing Pune on June 22 and completing their journey to Pandharpur by July 6.
  • Minister Chandrakant Patil inaugurated the Arogyawari health camp at Ranade Institute, where Samarth Yuva Foundation volunteers are offering screenings for blood pressure, sugar levels, cancer and dental health.
  • Local residents have opened homes and food stalls along major routes to provide khichdi, tea and other basic supplies to walking devotees.
  • The 20-day Wari stretches over 250 kilometres and features communal gatherings, spiritual discourses and cultural performances that celebrate devotion and equality.
