Pune University Junction Double-Decker Flyover Inaugurated, Traffic Reopens Monday

Police will restore two-way movement on Pashan, Baner and Abhimanshree roads following PMRDA’s final safety clearances.

Overview

  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis virtually opened the integrated structure at the SPPU/Ganeshkhind Road junction on March 8.
  • The Chatushrungi Traffic Division announced two-way traffic resumes March 9 on Pashan Road, Baner Road and Abhimanshree Road with specified turning and U-turn points near Sakalnagar and Sindh Society.
  • Built by PMRDA for about ₹277 crore, the roughly 1.7 km facility stacks a road flyover below and the Hinjewadi–Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 viaduct above on a single‑pier system, including a 55‑metre steel girder at the junction, with metro trial runs already conducted.
  • Officials completed final durability checks and signage before commissioning, and the link is expected to ease commutes between Baner, Aundh, Pashan and Shivajinagar and improve access toward Hinjawadi.
  • Fadnavis said the flyover will be named after the late Ajit Pawar, citing his role in pushing the project through demolition and reconstruction.
