Pune Road Crashes Leave Nine Dead and Several Injured Over Two Days

A fatal collision near Narayangaon killed nine on Friday, while a container truck caused chaos and injuries in Chakan on Thursday.

Nine people were killed on Friday morning when a minivan was struck by a tempo and pushed into a stationary bus on the Nashik-Pune highway near Narayangaon.
The victims in the Narayangaon accident were all occupants of the minivan, which was traveling toward the area when the crash occurred.
On Thursday, a container truck driver, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, injured two women and damaged 9–10 vehicles while fleeing from an initial collision in Chakan.
The truck driver was intercepted after a 20-kilometer chase by police and locals, who used a dumper to block the road; he was later taken into custody and hospitalized after being beaten by an angry crowd.
Police have filed cases of rash and negligent driving against the truck driver, and the injured women remain in serious condition.
