Overview
- Pune Municipal Corporation says the city recorded 2,291 confirmed dengue cases between January 1 and October 20, 2026, after removing duplicate entries from its data.
- Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram ordered coordinated action on October 24–25 that prioritises targeted fogging, indoor spraying and use of biological larvicides around patient homes and known breeding sites.
- Civic teams have inspected about 1.4 million households and 2,831,386 water containers this year, finding Aedes larvae in 18,885 containers across roughly 13,000 homes and issuing 2,664 notices with ₹6.30 lakh collected in fines.
- Hospitals have reserved beds and diagnostic support: private facilities report 4,409 beds including 670 ICU beds, civic hospitals list 333 beds including six ICU beds, and rapid tests and free confirmatory testing are available at named municipal hospitals.
- A suspected dengue death of a nine-year-old who died on October 18 is under review by the civic health audit committee, and officials warn that persistent household breeding and delayed cooling could keep cases higher into late October unless residents remove stagnant clean water.
