Overview

• On June 27, the prosecution opened its case under CrPC Section 226, urging the court to frame charges against the juvenile’s parents, doctors, hospital staff, middlemen and other associates.
• DNA tests confirmed the juvenile driver’s blood was replaced with his mother’s sample at Sassoon General Hospital and similar swaps were carried out for two co-passengers.
• Recovered financial records trace payments made to hospital personnel and middlemen for orchestrating the sample manipulations.
• Investigators also submitted CCTV footage, Test Identification Parade reports and handwriting analysis linking all ten accused to the conspiracy.
• Defense lawyers are set to begin arguments on framing of charges on July 2, moving the trial into its next phase.
