Overview

  • Pilot installations at Bopdev Ghat saw 40 night-vision CCTV cameras, including nine PTZ units, nine emergency call boxes, 11 public announcement systems and 22 floodlights successfully trialed.
  • Underground fibre trenching and power lines are in place to support the full network of surveillance equipment.
  • Over the next three months, Pune Police will roll out 609 high-resolution CCTV cameras, 231 PA speakers and 12 dedicated drones alongside the emergency call boxes.
  • A three-member command-room team will use AI-driven analytics to flag suspicious movements and coordinate rapid patrol responses.
  • The upgrades aim to deter sexual assaults, robberies and other violent crimes on poorly lit hill paths and improve safety for walkers, trekkers and tourists.
