Pune Police Register FIR Naming Six Cops in Alleged Assault, Casteist Abuse Case

An ACP-led investigation follows a sessions court directive that overturned an earlier finding of no offence.

  • Police said the case was registered on Saturday evening on court orders, and the probe is being led by ACP Bhausaheb Pandhare.
  • The FIR names eight accused: six serving policemen, a retired officer, and an unidentified woman, with listed personnel including API Amol Kamthe, APIs Prema Patil, constables Vinod Pardesi, Sanjeevani Shinde and Shruti Kadne, and cyber cell officer Dhananjay Sanap.
  • Complainants allege trespass, abduction, physical assault, and casteist and sexually abusive remarks during questioning linked to a missing-person search in August.
  • The case stems from a 23-year-old from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar who had briefly stayed with the 28-year-old complainant in Kothrud before police teams traced her location.
  • The November 11 order directed Kothrud police to register an FIR under relevant BNS and SC/ST provisions and mandated supervision by an officer of assistant commissioner rank.
