Pune Police, PMC Bulldoze Alleged Illegal Offices Tied to Gangster Tipu Pathan

Officials say the razing is part of a broader push that pairs anti-encroachment action with MCOCA-backed cases to curb gang control.

Overview

  • Teams from Kalepadal police and the PMC Anti-Encroachment Department demolished unauthorised structures at Khwaja Manzil in Sayyadnagar, Hadapsar.
  • Senior officials, including DCP (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, oversaw the operation that targeted an office, a kiosk and related encroachments linked to Pathan.
  • Police have registered a case against Rizwan alias Tipu Sattar Pathan under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with provisions of MCOCA, 1999.
  • Pathan, 34, was arrested in April in a land-grab and extortion case and remains in jail, with police noting multiple criminal cases pending against him.
  • No fresh arrests were reported during Friday’s demolition, which authorities described as part of a continuing citywide campaign against organised-crime syndicates.
