Pune Police Launches Citizen-Led Traffic Reporting App

Leveraging smart technology, the app enables anonymous reporting of traffic violations with guaranteed police response within 48 hours.

Overview

  • The Pune Traffic Police launched the PTP Traffic Cop App on June 14 to allow residents to report offenses such as illegal parking, wrong-side driving and signal jumping.
  • Users can also submit photos or videos of civic issues affecting traffic flow, including potholes, waterlogging and road obstructions.
  • All complaints are verified by officers within 48 hours and action is taken while maintaining the confidentiality of complainants’ identities.
  • Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar inaugurated the app in Pune alongside Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Additional Commissioner Manoj Patil.
  • Developed in partnership with a private firm, the initiative aims to boost civic participation and improve communication between the public and traffic authorities.
