Overview
- Commissioner Amitesh Kumar unveiled the initiative at the Secure Horizons in Education 2025 conclave in partnership with colleges and specialist police cells.
- Phase 1 begins in November–December with each institution nominating 4–5 student ambassadors for a three-day orientation on law literacy, cyber hygiene, road safety, gender sensitisation, mental health and leadership.
- The 2026 calendar includes Road Safety Week with 100+ street plays, gender safety programming in March–April, anti-drugs campaigns in June–July, mental health activities in August–September, cyber safety audits in October, followed by evaluation in November and expansion in December.
- Police also announced operational steps including random hostel room checks, increased campus patrols, CCTV and fire-safety upgrades, mentor–mentee systems and deployment of women security staff.
- Kumar linked the push to recent incidents including the Pune Porsche case, noting a second blood sample was ordered for DNA matching and stating the accused has remained in custody for 18 months.
