Overview

  • The Tipu Pathan gang affiliate was booked in at least 15 serious offences since 2011 under MCOCA, including a May 14 armed robbery of a food delivery worker in Pune’s Hadapsar.
  • Pune Police’s crime branch received a tip-off that Rahim was hiding with relatives in Lamboti village, prompting an early-morning raid.
  • Officials say Rahim opened fire with a country-made pistol and was fatally shot in return fire before being pronounced dead at a Solapur hospital.
  • Investigators seized two country-made pistols, nine live cartridges and two machetes from the room where he was residing.
  • Rahim’s wife has contested the claim that he fired first as police file charges against her for obstructing public servants and probe his weapons procurement.
