Pune Police File FIR Against MNS Student Wing After Alleged Locking of ABVP Office

The campus dispute over boycott posters near Wadia College has shifted into a police case naming MNS student activists.

Overview

  • Vishrambaug police registered an FIR naming at least 35 members of the MNS students’ wing over an incident at the ABVP office in Sadashiv Peth.
  • The complaint alleges the group barged in around 3:30 pm Monday, abused and assaulted two members, vandalised the premises, pasted an Akhil Bharatiya MNS poster, and locked the office from outside.
  • No injuries were reported, and the case cites sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Police Act as the investigation continues.
  • The confrontation followed posters near Nowrosjee Wadia College calling for a boycott of MNVS, NSUI, and ASA with references to ABVP, which the ABVP denies authoring.
  • ABVP workers protested at the Perugate Police chowki, while MNVS leaders said Amit Thackeray plans to meet Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to raise grievances about the action taken.
