Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Ward Maps Draw 5,496 and 318 Objections as Hearings Begin

A state-appointed officer now leads hearings preceding final approval of the maps.

  • The Pune Municipal Corporation logged 5,496 submissions on its draft ward map, with 2,899 filed on the final day of the objection window.
  • Objections were heavily concentrated in Narhe–Ambegaon/Narhe–Vadgaon Budruk with 2,066 filings, while three wards recorded none: Shaniwar PethMahatma Phule Mandai, Deccan Gymkhana–Happy Colony, and Karvenagar–Hingne Home Colony.
  • The Pimpri–Chinchwad civic body recorded 318 objections, including 276 on the last day, with Ward 10 alone accounting for 115 filings.
  • Hearings on Pune’s objections are underway under IAS officer V. Radha and are slated to conclude by September 12, while PCMC hearings are scheduled for next week.
  • Following hearings, reports will go to the state election office and the state government for final notification, as parties also press legal and democratic concerns including challenges to multi-member wards.
