Pune Book Festival 2024 Opens with Two Guinness World Records and Literary Celebrations

The festival, featuring 600 book stalls, workshops, cultural events, and a children's film festival, will run from December 14 to 22 at Ferguson College Ground.

  • The Pune Book Festival was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, marking the start of a week-long celebration of literature and culture.
  • Two Guinness World Records were achieved: a Saraswati Yantra artwork made with 10,000 books and the largest exhibition of books by a single author.
  • The festival includes over 600 book stalls displaying works in multiple languages, the launch of 80 new books, and free literary sessions featuring 60 authors, poets, and intellectuals.
  • Workshops on storytelling, painting, dance, music, and Vedic mathematics are being offered for school students, along with free screenings at the Pune Children’s Film Festival from December 14 to 18.
  • The event aims to promote reading culture and will host its Lit Festival from December 20 to 22, with over 25 sessions open to the public at no cost.
