Overview
- The Anti-Corruption Bureau detained PSI Pramod Ravindra Chintamani after a monitored trap near Untadya Maruti Temple in Rasta Peth captured him accepting Rs 46.5 lakh.
 - Officials said the payoff comprised Rs 1.5 lakh in genuine currency and Rs 45 lakh in dummy notes used to document the alleged bribery.
 - The complainant, a 48-year-old lawyer, alleged the officer was the investigating officer in the Bavdhan case involving his client and the client’s father, with the father in judicial custody.
 - According to the ACB, the demand rose from Rs 2 lakh to Rs 2 crore, purportedly split as Rs 1 crore for the PSI and Rs 1 crore for a senior police inspector, with a first installment of Rs 50 lakh sought.
 - An FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at Samarth police station, the seized cash and two mobile phones are with the ACB for forensic examination, and investigators are examining possible involvement of a senior officer.
