Pump.fun, a popular Solana-based memecoin launchpad, has restricted access for users in the UK, citing compliance with local laws and regulations.
The move follows a warning from the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which stated that Pump.fun was operating without authorization and advised against using the platform.
The platform's pseudonymous founder confirmed the restriction is permanent, with the UK now listed as a restricted jurisdiction on the site.
Pump.fun has faced multiple controversies since its launch in January, including violent livestreams, child abuse material slipping through moderation, and a $2 million exploit by a former contractor.
Despite its legal and ethical challenges, Pump.fun has been a dominant force in the crypto space, accounting for 62% of Solana transactions in November and generating over $283 million in revenue this year.
