Overview
- A fire broke out on August 10 at around 10 a.m. in a first-floor office room in Pulheim’s Brauweiler industrial area after batteries ignited.
- Brandoberinspektor Thomas Bedburdick directed two breathing-apparatus teams that confined the fire to one room and extinguished it swiftly.
- Responders deployed 13 vehicles and ventilated the smoke-filled building for more than two hours to clear hazardous fumes.
- Firefighters immersed burnt battery remnants in a water bath to prevent reignition and had their gear decontaminated by the Pulheim Hygiene Group.
- While Pulheim crews fought the blaze, the Elsdorf-Heppendorf department temporarily manned the local station to ensure city protection.
