Public Services Set for ABC13 Anchor Dave Ward, 86

The record-setting Houston anchorman will be honored with public viewings followed by a televised church memorial.

Overview

  • On Wednesday, Dec. 17, Ward will lie in repose from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Crime Stoppers of Houston Dave Ward Building, 3001 Main St.
  • Public visitation is scheduled Thursday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 8 p.m. at George H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors, 1010 Bering Dr.
  • A memorial service open to the public will be held Friday, Dec. 19, at noon at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Rd., with ABC13 airing the service on TV and streaming platforms.
  • Ward died Dec. 13 at age 86 from complications related to pneumonia, according to his family.
  • The longtime KTRK figure worked at the station from 1966 to 2017, earned a Guinness World Record for tenure, helped establish Crime Stoppers in Houston, and is survived by his wife Laura Stoma Ward, three children, three stepchildren, and eight grandchildren.
