Overview
- The PT, together with PV and PCdoB, formally announced support for Hugo Motta's re-election as president of the Chamber of Deputies and said they will seek wider coalition partners.
- Party strategists aim to assemble a bloc of at least 17 parties because congressional technical projections show that size would give the PT and centrão allies the first 15 choices for committee presidencies.
- PT leaders are explicitly trying to keep the PL out of the bloc so the PL would lose priority in selecting influential committee chairs that help set which bills reach the floor.
- The PL has not taken a formal position yet and the PSOL–Rede federation is still deciding whether to join the bloc while pressing for concessions on a proposed shift to a mixed-member (distrital misto) electoral system.
- The formal Chamber vote is scheduled for February 2027 and control of the Mesa Diretora plus committee presidencies will determine which legislative priorities advance and how the House calendar is managed.
