Overview

• Plain-clothed and uniformed officers will be tactically deployed in pubs and clubs to spot and intervene on predatory behaviour toward women.
• The approach draws on Project Vigilant used in England, with PSNI tactical officers recently trained by Thames Valley Police.
• A formal launch is expected in the coming weeks, with deployments planned across Northern Ireland’s night-time economy.
• Up to the end of August 2025, police report 5,042 arrests under new domestic abuse, stalking and non-fatal strangulation laws, along with four stalking protection orders.
• In the 12 months to July 2025, 21,729 VAWG offences were recorded, a 4% year-on-year decline, alongside Walk and Talk events, active bystander training and a mandatory internal training package.
