Prudential Names Sir Douglas Flint Chair-Designate

The move underscores Prudential’s strategy to accelerate growth across Asia as well as Africa.

  • The former HSBC group chairman will join the board in March 2026 as a non-executive director before taking the chair after the 28 May AGM.
  • Baroness Shriti Vadera will retire from the board after six years as chair, having overseen the company’s transformation since the 2019 M&G demerger.
  • Chief executive Anil Wadhwani said Flint brings extremely valuable expertise to the board and stressed his deep knowledge of Asia.
  • Flint previously served as HSBC’s group finance director and then group chairman, worked as a KPMG partner, and has chaired Aberdeen and IP Group.
  • He will serve on Prudential’s nomination, governance and remuneration committees upon joining the board.
