Provisional Count Shows Record 65 Women Elected to Dutch Tweede Kamer

Preference votes accounted for five seats in the count, with official certification still pending.

Overview

  • Advocacy group Stem op een Vrouw says women will hold about 43.3% of seats (65 of 150), the highest share since 1918.
  • The tally is based on municipal result documents and process-verbalen, not yet on the Kiesraad’s certified outcome due Friday.
  • Five candidates appear to have entered via preference votes: Fatihya Abdi, Mikal Tseggai, Lisa Vliegenthart, Barbara Kathmann and likely Marieke Vellinga-Beemsterboer.
  • GroenLinks–PvdA’s Barbara Kathmann, listed 32nd, says she likely received around 30,000 preference votes to secure a seat.
  • The foundation reports roughly 3.6 million votes for women, including nearly 650,000 strategic preference votes, about 6% of voters.
