- William Chrestman, a member of the Proud Boys from Olathe, Kansas, has been sentenced to over four years in prison for his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
- Chrestman pleaded guilty in October to obstruction of an official proceeding and threatening a federal officer.
- During the attack, Chrestman encouraged the crowd entering the Capitol, bragged about having the police running, and threatened police with an ax handle.
- Prosecutors argued that Chrestman came prepared for violence, expressing disappointment he couldn’t bring a gun, and that he came with a helmet marked with orange tape so other Proud Boys would recognize him.
- Chrestman has been in jail since his arrest in February 2021 and will get credit for time served.
