Barry Ramey, affiliated with Proud Boys, pepper sprayed and assaulted police officers during the January 6 Capitol attack.
Ramey also tried to intimidate the FBI agent investigating him by calling and reciting the agent's home address.
Ramey's attorney claimed he understood the severity of his actions and wants to change, but prosecutors argued his history of threats and violence warranted a harsher 9-year sentence.
Ramey's attack left officers vulnerable to the rioters who then breached the police line and entered the Capitol.
Another rioter associated with the militia group Guardians of Freedom was sentenced to 5 months for his role, including stealing an officer's riot shield and wearing tactical gear.
