Prosecutors Seek Four Years and Eight Months for De Vido and Baratta in LNG Procurement Case

The request follows allegations that outsourced purchases paid unjustified commissions that cost the state more than $5 million.

  • Prosecutors Fabiana León and Nicolás Codromaz asked TOF 7 to sentence Julio De Vido to 4 years and 8 months and Roberto Baratta to 4 years and 6 months for aggravated fraud, with lifetime bans from public office.

  • The prosecution requested restitution of USD 5,523,344, asset embargoes, and travel restrictions and document retention for defendants while the case is pending.
  • According to the alegatos, eleven LNG cargoes in 2008–2009 were procured through intermediaries including YPF, Diligentia and Dysan, with commissions reaching about 8% with VAT.
  • Prosecutors said the operations exceeded USD 360 million in value, and defense arguments are scheduled for August 26 before Tribunal Oral Federal N°7.
