Prosecutors Demand 9-Year Sentence for Dani Alves in Sexual Assault Case

Former FC Barcelona star, who denies the allegations, has been in jail since January 2023; trial date yet to be set.

Prosecutors are seeking a nine-year prison sentence for former FC Barcelona defender Dani Alves, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in December 2022.
Alves, who has denied the allegations and claimed the sex was consensual, has been in jail since his arrest in January 2023.
Prosecutors are also demanding Alves pay his alleged victim $163,500 in compensation and want him to remain supervised for a decade after serving his prison term.
All of Alves’ bail requests have been denied due to the court considering him a flight risk.
A trial date for the case has yet to be determined.
