Overview

  • In closing arguments, federal prosecutor Miguel Ángel Osorio asked the court to acquit program coordinator Gabriel Mariotto and sought a three-year suspended sentence for Aníbal Fernández on fraud and breach-of-duty charges and an eight-month suspended term for Jorge Capitanich for breach of duties.
  • Osorio also requested suspended convictions for other defendants, including two years for former AFA president Luis Segura, one year for FAA ex‑treasurer Carlos Alberto Pandolfi, one year for Norberto Monteleone, and two years for former Iveco president Natale Rigano.
  • He moved to acquit several additional AFA and union officials and financial executives, among them Miguel Ángel Silva, Rubén Manuel Raposo, Raúl Pagano, Sergio Marchi, Eduardo Amirante, Jorge Antonio Galitis, and Carlos Dávola.
  • The Procuraduría de Investigaciones Administrativas quantified the alleged loss at 131,608,000 pesos for 2010–2015 and asked that the accused repay the amount to benefit Enard and the AFA.
  • Capitanich publicly dismissed the allegations as inconsistent and unsupported by trial evidence, and court sources told La Nación that with program administrators excluded it may be difficult for judges to establish criminal conduct.
