Promising Swiss Cyclist Gino Mäder Dies After Falling into Ravine During Tour de Suisse

Gino Mäder, a 26-year-old Swiss cyclist, died after crashing into a ravine during the Tour de Suisse bike race.
Mäder fell 60 feet into a ravine, was resuscitated at the scene, then died in the hospital the next day.
Another cyclist, 21-year-old American Magnus Sheffield, was also injured in the crash but survived.
The cycling community mourned the loss of Mäder, who had won stages of the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a Espana and was seen as an up-and-coming star.
The sixth stage of the Tour de Suisse was canceled in Mäder's honor, and cyclists rode the final miles of the stage together in tribute.
