Prominent Iranian Director Mohammad Rasoulof Banned From Leaving Iran to Serve on Cannes Jury

Rasoulof was recently released from Evin prison in Tehran but barred from traveling to France for the Cannes Film Festival, where he was set to sit on the Un Certain Regard jury.
The acclaimed director's latest film, "There Is No Evil," won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival earlier this year.
Rasoulof has been banned from making films and leaving Iran for the past six years due to his criticism of the government.
No official reason was given for denying Rasoulof permission to travel to Cannes.
The Un Certain Regard jury at Cannes will be headed by U.S. actor John C. Reilly in Rasoulof's absence.
