Prolific TV Theme Composer Laurie Johnson Dies at 96

Known for Iconic Scores for The Avengers and Dr Strangelove, Johnson Leaves a Resounding Legacy in Film and Television Music

Laurie Johnson, the prolific composer of classic television themes, including The Avengers, The Professionals, and Animal Magic, has died at the age of 96.
Johnson's work spanned across film, TV, theatre, and radio, with his music touching the lives of millions around the world.
His memorable soundtracks include the music for Stanley Kubrick’s Dr Strangelove and the theme for the 1970s detective television series The Professionals.
Johnson was also involved in the company that created the 1970s spin-off The New Avengers, and his working day often started at 6am in a small studio at his home.
He is survived by his wife Dot, a daughter, son-in-law and grandson.
