Prolific Boots Shoplifter Jailed With 10-Year Ban From All Stores

Police link the outcome to intelligence-led work with Boots that they say is lifting shoplifting case clearances.

Overview

  • Liam Hutchinson, 32, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 12 months at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
  • He received a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from every Boots in the UK for 10 years and a separate five-year exclusion from Kensington and Chelsea.
  • Police say he carried out 99 thefts between May and August 2025, targeting high-value electrical items and razors and costing Boots about £107,000.
  • The case was built through a joint investigation with Boots staff that reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV, images and witness statements.
  • The Met reports solving 163% more shoplifting cases year-on-year, crediting intelligence-led patrols and the Safer Summer Streets town-centre presence.
