Overview

  • Authorities deployed 709 personnel to inspect six sawmills in Ocuilán, Estado de México, recovering 50.65 m3 of wood along with vehicles and sawmill equipment.
  • Inspectors documented four Ocuilán sawmills previously closed by Profepa that are secured by the federal prosecutor’s office.
  • Profepa ordered temporary total closures at three properties in Ocosingo, Chiapas, after illegal rock extraction damaged 76,436 m2 of pine‑oak and conifer forests, and seized heavy machinery.
  • A sawmill in Cuautepec, Hidalgo, remains temporarily closed after inspectors found an unaccounted 77.63 m3 of pine and oyamel, noncompliant records, and a late report to SEMARNAT.
  • The Cuautepec action stemmed from an August 11 stop of a truck carrying undocumented timber, and Profepa’s chief said the operations reaffirm a commitment to coordinated enforcement to protect critical forests.
