Profeco’s ‘Fiestas Patrias 2025’ Sweep Underway Nationwide Through Sept. 16

The push pairs on-site checks with consumer reporting tools, backed by immediate enforcement powers.

Overview

  • Inspectors from the Dirección General de Verificación and 38 Odecos are visiting high‑traffic businesses across Mexico, including supermarkets, liquor outlets, beer depots, butcher shops, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, bakeries, tortillerías and public parking lots.
  • Checks focus on transparent, clearly displayed total prices, truthful advertising, compliance with advertised promotions and proper issuance of invoices or receipts, with sales access not allowed to be denied or conditioned for discriminatory reasons.
  • Any offered product guarantees must comply with the Federal Consumer Protection Law and may not be shorter than 90 days.
  • Measurement instruments used in transactions, such as scales and time‑recording devices, are being verified for correct adjustment and calibration to prevent economic harm.
  • If violations that threaten life, health, safety or the economy are found, Profeco can order partial suspensions of sales or immobilize containers and transport, while consumers can report issues via Teléfono del Consumidor (55 5568 8722 and 800 468 8722) and official social media.
