Profeco Suspends Several Gameplanet Stores in Mexico City Over Consumer Information Violations

The agency is reviewing corrective documentation from the retailer to decide whether to lift the precautionary closures.

Overview

  • Inspections by Profeco’s Subprocuraduría de Telecomunicaciones from October 13 to 21 found repeated failures to meet consumer-protection requirements.
  • Deficiencies included not displaying the registered adhesion contract, not proving delivery of that contract, not showing the carta de derechos mínimos, and in some cases not posting prices.
  • Profeco placed suspension seals on noncompliant branches, including Plaza Universidad, Galerías Insurgentes, Forum Buenavista, Perisur and Zona Rosa.
  • Other locations met all requirements, with Plaza Oasis Coyoacán and Parque Delta accredited during initial checks and Parque Tezontle confirmed compliant on a later revisit.
  • Gameplanet introduced QR codes, updated its website and organized document folders, and Profeco is analyzing the submitted evidence to determine whether to lift the measures.
