- Mexico’s consumer watchdog inspected 29 businesses across central Tulum and Parque Jaguar around November 24–25, covering hotels, restaurants, convenience stores and pharmacies.
- Four lodging businesses—Diamante K, Pocna Tulum, Villa Pescadores and Cabañas Playa Condesa Tulum—were sealed for violations including missing posted rates, unclear terms, menus in foreign languages or foreign currency, tip inducements and lack of receipts.
- At Diamante K, the top double-room rate reached 13,860 pesos, with tariffs documented as 890% to 1,880% above average prices observed in central Tulum.
- Restaurant checks logged steep menu prices such as guacamole up to 280 pesos, hamburgers above 400 pesos and three-taco orders up to 400 pesos.
- Price monitoring at convenience chains found OXXO and 7-Eleven generally above national averages, with GO MART carrying the highest costs, and Profeco said surveillance in Tulum will continue.
