Overview

  • Profeco sealed Zócalo Bar Puebla after finding it automatically added gratuities to diners’ bills in violation of the Federal Consumer Protection Law.
  • La Leyenda Restaurant Bar & Concert Hall, Café Tres Gallos and Vitorio’s received temporary suspension seals for incomplete receipts, undisclosed menu prices or advertising items they do not offer.
  • The enforcement action stemmed from an anonymous complaint that prompted on-site verifications by Profeco inspectors in Puebla’s Historic Center.
  • Under Article 10 of the consumer law, gratuities must remain voluntary and businesses must issue receipts detailing all transaction information.
  • Profeco warned it will maintain verification campaigns in high-tourist zones to uphold transparent pricing and protect consumer rights.
