Profeco Reminds Consumers to Keep Purchase Receipts to Enforce Their Rights

Mexican law requires businesses to issue receipts that function as the proof Profeco needs to handle complaints.

Overview

  • The agency’s Sept. 27 advisory urges consumers to request and save receipts in physical or digital form for every purchase or service.
  • Receipts are needed to validate warranties, request refunds or returns, and support claims over supplier noncompliance.
  • Profeco accepts other evidence when available, including sales contracts, bank or financial records such as SPEI transfers and PayPal, invoices or service receipts, advertising, and email exchanges.
  • Complaints can be filed at Odeco offices nationwide or online if the provider is registered in Concilianet or Conciliaexprés.
  • Profeco states that a complaint cannot be processed without proof of payment, and it lists contact lines 55 5568 8722 and 800 468 8722 plus official accounts @AtencionProfeco, @Profeco and Facebook: ProfecoOficial.
