Overview
- Profeco replicated BMW’s Nov. 18, 2025 recall campaign to review 5,048 vehicles from model years 2019–2021, covering models including 220i Coupé, 3 Series, 5 Series, X3/X4 and Z4 variants.
- Officials cite possible water ingress into the starter motor that can cause corrosion, no-start conditions, short circuits, local overheating, and in extreme cases fires even when parked.
- The alert will remain in effect indefinitely, and Profeco said it will monitor compliance across the country.
- BMW México is replacing the starter motor at no cost and is notifying owners via authorized dealers, email, phone calls and in‑car messages.
- Owners are advised to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from buildings, and can schedule service via 800 00 269 00, atencionbmw@bmw.com.mx or BMW’s recall webpage.
