Profeco, Harley-Davidson Launch Recall in Mexico for 498 Motorcycles Over Rear-Shock Hazard

Dealers are contacting owners for free inspections with hardware updates under Profeco oversight through July 2027.

Overview

  • The preload-adjuster mount on the rear shock can fracture during normal use, allowing contact with the rear tire and causing sudden pressure loss with crash risk.
  • The recall covers seven models: FLHC 2018, FLHCS 2018, FLHCSANV 2018, FLDE 2018, FXLRS 2020, FLHCSANV 120th Anniversary 2023, and FXLRST 2024.
  • Authorized dealers will inspect the rear assembly and replace hardware with a revised support that limits adjuster movement, at no cost to owners.
  • Registered owners are being notified by email, and VIN lookup portals on Harley-Davidson’s site let riders confirm if their motorcycle is included.
  • Riders are advised to avoid riding if they notice noises under the seat, handling issues, or irregular rear-tire wear and to schedule a service appointment promptly.
