Overview

  • The joint Profeco–Tourism Secretariat operation mobilizes 350 agents across major airports, bus terminals, tourist centers, mobile brigades and a consumer hotline to assist travelers
  • Advisories have targeted air and bus travel rights, general consumer protection, agency procedures and price comparison inquiries through permanent and temporary modules
  • Specific cases addressed include 29 bus cancellations, 26 flight overbookings, 21 itinerary changes as well as baggage fee and pricing complaints
  • Through 42 conciliations with airlines such as Viva Aerobus, Volaris and Iberia, Profeco secured 260,909 pesos for consumers, surpassing the 234,109 pesos originally claimed
  • The special summer operation will maintain its nationwide presence until August 31 to continue enforcing consumer rights during Mexico’s peak vacation season
