Overview

• Funeral rites will be held at 12 pm on Sunday, September 28, at Rajghat on the Rapti River in Gorakhpur, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expected to attend.
• He served as chairman of the Maharana Pratap Education Council since 2018 and was named Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor of Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in 2021.
• A scholar of mathematics, he rose to head the department at Deendayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University before becoming vice-chancellor of Purvanchal University in Jaunpur.
• He worked under three successive heads of Gorakshpeeth, starting with Mahant Digvijaynath and Mahant Avaidyanath, continuing under Yogi Adityanath.
• He had been unwell for several months and is survived by two sons, Prof. V. K. Singh and Prof. Rajiv Krishna Singh.
