Procession Brings Fallen Timber Mesa Firefighter Glenn Collins Home to Show Low

The escort followed a third line-of-duty death for the small district within weeks, with investigations continuing.

Overview

  • Timber Mesa Fire and Medical District organized an escorted transfer Monday to the Coconino County medical examiner in Flagstaff and returned Glenn Collins’ remains to Show Low.
  • Residents were asked to safely gather along Deuce of Clubs and White Mountain Road to pay respects during the procession.
  • Collins, 46, died Oct. 3 after his motorcycle collided with a truck on Lone Pine Dam Road near Show Low while he was heading to work.
  • Authorities say the truck was driven by a 21-year-old woman suspected of driving drunk, and the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation; a funeral date has not been announced.
  • His death came less than three weeks after Timber Mesa firefighters Brenna Kulikowski, 31, and Damon Thompson, 21, were killed in a Sept. 14 ambulance crash that also claimed the other driver, after which the department held honor watches and received statewide coverage support.
