Pro-Trump Candidate With Questionable Military Record Ends Congressional Bid

J.R. Majewski, a Republican candidate endorsed by former President Trump, has ended his campaign for Ohio's 9th Congressional District seat.
Majewski's decision came after his military record was called into question, with reports indicating he lied about serving in Afghanistan after 9/11.
Majewski claimed he was ending his campaign to care for his ill mother, but he had faced an uphill battle after losing to incumbent Rep. Marcy Kaptur by 13 points in 2020.
Majewski won the 2022 Republican primary for the seat but withdrew from the race less than two months later.
Kaptur, a Democrat, is the longest-serving woman in the House of Representatives.
