Privy Brings Embedded XRPL Wallets to Apps

The move could reduce friction for agent-driven micro-payments by letting apps create, sign, manage XRPL transactions.

Overview

  • Privy, which announced the integration on Oct. 13, 2026, will let developers create in-app XRPL wallets and perform transaction-aware signing for XRP, RLUSD and other ledger assets.
  • The integration explicitly supports server-side wallets for AI agents and x402 payment flows so software can hold funds and pay for tiny services without a user opening a checkout.
  • XRPL data show very large counts of agent payments—reported at roughly 13–14 million—but the total value moved is minimal, indicating the activity is heavy on tiny, per-request micro-payments.
  • Every new embedded XRPL account still requires the ledger’s minimum reserve (currently 1 XRP) to become active, creating a distinct channel for XRP demand that is separate from payment volume.
  • Privy says it will add policy controls and fee‑sponsorship tools over time but those features are not yet implemented, and broader adoption will hinge on named production deployments, custody choices and user recovery options.
