  • On Tuesday evening three children swimming off a sandbar at Wingaersheek Beach were swept into a strong Annisquam River tidal current
  • Christian Dagley and another Gloucester boater spotted the children and pulled them aboard before fire and police units arrived
  • Nurse Keri Ann Perry performed CPR on the 5-year-old girl, whose life-threatening injuries led to her transfer to Children’s Hospital in Boston
  • The 14-year-old girl is in serious condition at the pediatric hospital and the 8-year-old boy has been discharged to his parents
  • Gloucester officials warned swimmers about the river’s powerful currents while the nearby Annisquam Yacht Club resumed normal operations
