  • Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, visited the 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards at Robertson Barracks in Norfolk, marking her first visit as Colonel-in-Chief.
  • Demonstrating a hands-on approach, Kate drove a seven-tonne armoured vehicle, which could reach speeds of up to 70mph (110km/h), and operated a reconnaissance drone during her visit.
  • Kate was recognized as 'a natural' by the driving instructor, Corporal Darreyl Tukana, who said she was used to driving Land Rovers and she enjoyed the experience.
  • She also spent time meeting senior officers, soldiers, and their families, showing particular interest in hearing about their experiences and the support available to them.
  • In addition to formal duties, Kate humorously promoted the regimental mascot, a Welsh Mountain pony called Trooper 'Longface' Emrys Jones, from lance corporal to corporal.
